Vocabulary is Key!




Students in Mrs. Guffey's READ 180 focus on the vocabulary word,
"immigrant". They learn the word by sharing sentences with one another,
explore it's word family (immigrate, immigration), watch a video clip
that emphasizes the term, and finally write sentences using the word.
It's a powerful method that she uses to teach various academic vocabulary words throughout the year.

Human Math Problems




Students in Mrs. West's classroom practice adding and subtracting
integers by taking it outside and acting out the steps.

Tis the Season




Mr. Fuqua's band students start preparing for their Holiday Concert.

Watch Out Below!




Students in Mrs. Fain's class, and all other 7th grade science
classes, used the scientific method to create containers that would
protect an egg when dropped off of the balcony.

Students across the school are having fun during Mrs. Locker's Library Orientation
playing a card sort game based on the card catalog.

Social Studies students use play dough to construct a model of an
Ice Age land bridge.

Match Up




Mrs. Morgan's students started class today with a vocabulary activity
where students paired up by finding their vocabulary/definition
match. 7th grade science students take vocabulary quizzes every
Friday. This was a nice way to review.

Who I'm I?




Students in Mrs. Carrico's class learn about culture through a brown
bag activity. Students brought five items from home that described
them. Other students opened the bags and tried to guess who brought
the items.

Let's Hear It




Mrs. Hill fine tunes her Strings class as they start a new school
year. Mrs Hill and her assistant, Mrs. Darnell, lead the only public
school strings program west of Owensboro, KY.

High Five




8th grade Grant team gave each other a "hand" in Mr. Waller's class
today. As a welcome back activity the students each made a hand and
five different students wrote a positive statement describing them on the fingers.
