Language Arts Drama

For the last couple of weeks, 7th grade students have been learning about the features and elements of drama. They have been able to identify, explain, and infer about elements of a play, and how each play has a plot line. The students are now realizing that drama consists of more than just stage plays, but movies and television shows as well.


In class, we have done a variety of activities with dramatic scripts. The students read and acted out Scene 4 from Disney's, High School Musical, an adaption of A Retrieved Reformation, and an adaption of a fairy tale Spiderella. Students completed a comparison between the original script and movie production of scenes.

Post-Mortem of a Protagonist

Mrs. Manning's students analyze how a character changed in a story and represent those thoughts through a symbolism body trace.

Ping Pong Practice

Students in Mrs. Lockard's class had fun racing to finish their notes by only getting to write while the other was trying to row a 6. Fun time paddling the work back and forth.

HSM

Students act and sing High School Musical led by Mrs. Poole and Mrs. McManus. Had fun dancing along!

GCMS Art

Art students in Mr. Lile's class have the opportunity to create a still life drawing of some interesting objects.

Christmas Concert

The band, strings, and choir students sent us off to begin our Christmas Break with some Holiday tunes!

Strings Concert

Our Strings, led by Ms. Hein, did an wonderful job getting the audience in the spirit at their annual Holiday Concert.

How Does It End?

Mrs. Manning's students predict the ending to a short story in Patrick Carman's latest book. Tomorrow they will go online to watch the ending and see how close their prediction was.

Turkey Time

Mrs. Story's students use a "turkey" pre-write to organize their thoughts for a Thanksgiving short story.

Veteran's Day

Our own Coach Williams led GCMS students in an assembly honoring our veterans. Major Williams retired from the Armed Forces after serving our country for over 20 years.

Mathletes

Mr. Catlin sharpens his classes' basketball skills as they toss a ball and respond to practice problems.

Halloween Spooktacular

Our 7th grade science classes combined today for some Halloween science fun. Experiments that reinforced current learning in their classrooms were demonstrated with a holiday flare.

Governing Rules

Mr. Seaton's classes create new school rules and present them to the class by role playing different forms of government.
